Paper, like the human mind, holds memories. Memories of once being a seed and growing into a mighty tree. Memories of what was written or printed upon it. Paper remembers each fold it has been shaped into, allowing it to retain that form long after. I take discarded paper and recycle it into new sheets an imperfect assemblage of many fragments creating a deeply human substrate.
This piece takes an introspective look at memory and what it means to examine one’s own life. Through fragmented recollections and emotions, I create visual forms of the voices, thoughts, and questions I have carried over time. Working at a smaller 12" x 8" scale, I invite viewers to step in closer, to examine not only the piece itself, but also their own lives.
Piece is sold unframed and shipped in a reinforced flat mailer.
